The University of Lethbridge Graduate
Certificate in Bioinformatics (Pending Government Approval)
Bioinformatics is the specialization of data sciences that focuses on the analysis of large data sets of biological data to improve healthcare, agriculture and environmental management and continues to face a surge in demand for skilled professionals. The fourth industrial revolution includes technologies that combine hardware and software with biology, resulting in the creation of many new educational and employment opportunities. To meet the increasing demand for training in the field of Bioinformatics, many Canadian post-secondary institution have initiated graduate research degree study programs while some have designed focused 4-year undergraduate programs to this end. In parallel, only a handful of institutions across the country offer graduate diplomas or certificate programs that target bachelor's degree holders or retooling late life professionals in life and computer sciences.
